Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for a Technical Support Analyst I or II to join our Customer Operations team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power's downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

What does a Technical Support Analyst do for us?

Technical Support Analyst I:

Under moderate supervision, provides Technical Support and training to company-wide users of department supported CAD design and document management software applications and associated hardware devices including GPS solutions. Assesses user needs, troubleshoots problems, provides recommendations, and develops solutions. Presents information and instruction to users regarding new procedures, requirements, and current issues. Maintains detailed knowledge of product technology; administers business unit application structure and settings; and investigates potential solutions for automating business unit functions.

Technical Support Analyst II:

In addition to the duties of the Technical Systems Analyst I, a level II will also identify training needs and develops technical skills training programs, user manuals, and training materials. Responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and integrity of software associated with the technologies. Develops, customizes, and implements software programs, application interfaces between supported systems, and user interfaces to meet Idaho Power Company needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Technical Support Analyst I:

Knowledge of:

+ Department supported hardware and software solutions, as well as print/plot/scan technologies

+ Computer network applications, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office products

+ Personal computer use, maintenance, and troubleshooting

Preferred:

+ Engineering Document Management Systems (EDMS)

+ CAD Design Software (Autodesk products)

+ GPS hardware and software support (Trimble products)

Skills in:

+ Performing technical analyses to resolve system-related technical issues

+ Good oral and written communication, and listening skills

+ Problem solving and customer service skills

Preferred:

+ Adult instruction

+ Writing basic macros, scripts, and batch routines used in the implementation of department specific applications

Ability to:

+ Build and maintain excellent working relationships with team, peers, and customers

+ Understand and carry out complex written and verbal instructions and make decisions

+ Accept responsibility and adapt readily to new situations

+ Work in a team environment under moderate supervision and effectively with outside consultants, support personnel and vendors

Technical Support Analyst II:

Knowledge of:

+ Good understanding of other department supported technology

Preferred:

+ Engineering Document Management Systems (EDMS)

+ CAD Design Software (Autodesk products)

+ Database structures such as Oracle, Access, and SQL Server

+ Materials management systems

+ Line construction methods, materials, standards, and equipment

+ Electric utility generation, transmission, and distribution systems

+ Electric utility information systems and relationships

+ Relational database management systems

Skills in:

+ Engineering and Design

+ GIS Facilities Mapping

+ Training development and delivery

+ Project management

+ Technical writing and documentation

+ Solution requirements engineering

+ Business case development

+ Solution development and testing

+ Building strategic working relationships

Preferred:

+ Skills in basic applications programming using languages such as AutoLisp, XML, SQL, ArcObjects, VB, VBA, or VB.net

Ability to:

+ Analyze and resolve complex problems

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Technical Support Analyst I:

Education:

+ High school diploma or GED Certification in applicable discipline or related field

OR

+ An equivalent combination of experience and demonstrated expertise in department supported technologies

Preferred:

+ Associate's degree in applicable discipline or related field or equivalent

Experience:

+ 2 years of experience using department supported software applications such as CAD (Autodesk Products), Meridian, SQL, GPS solutions, etc.

Preferred:

+ Previous experience with department specific applications

Technical Support Analyst II:

Education:

+ Associate's degree in applicable discipline or related field

OR

+ An equivalent combination of experience and demonstrated expertise in department supported technologies

Preferred:

+ Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline or related field or equivalent

Experience:

+ 5 years of experience using department supported software applications such as CAD (Autodesk Products), Meridian, SQL, GPS solutions, etc.

Preferred:

+ Previous experience in adult education

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. Decision making and problem solving:

Technical Support Analyst I - Identifies the need for, and collects information to better understand issues, problems, and opportunities. Makes limited decisions under supervision regarding appropriate tools to meet customer requirements. Under supervision, coordinates with internal customers to determine project requirements and actions necessary to meet those requirements.

Technical Support Analyst II - Seeks out and documents information from users, managers, and support staff in order to recommend options and resolve support issues.
