Job description

Join a versatile and growing construction firm!
Passionate about envisioning, designing, and crafting outdoor living spaces that redefine a client’s home and life, we've successfully delivered over 20,000 projects since 2011. Our foundation lies in the expertise of great designers who partner with our clients as they enter the daunting world of contracting. At Allied, we believe that we are to guide and assist our clients in completing the beautiful, high quality outdoor living spaces they’ve dreamed of. We approach this journey with surprising sincerity, integrity, and transparency.
Why Allied:
  • Products and People you can be proud of
    • You will be surrounded by coworkers all striving to deliver high quality products with unmatched character and integrity rarely seen in this industry.
  • Experience Matters
    • We’ve delivered over 20,000 projects, meaning we’ve assisted 20,000 clients as they–with us by their side–navigated peril after peril. We’ve learned the hard way so our clients don’t have to.
  • Challenging Environment
    • Outdoor living is a complex industry. Each home has different obstacles, and each set of homeowners has their own unique dream and vision. Our designers aren’t afraid to spend the time necessary to dream alongside the client, build a firm scope, and help encourage them through the buying process.
  • Vibrant Work Culture
    • We are not only proud of the work we do for our clients; we also desire to create a culture that promotes learning and celebrates the successful milestones along the way. Whether you’ve just begun or you’ve been here a decade, we can’t wait to cheer you on and provide honest coaching along the way.

Intangibles: (examples will be asked for during the interview process)
  • Naturally accurate and with focused attention to detail
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and software if needed
  • High moral character
  • Pursues perfection
    • Getting it right is just as important as getting it done (detail-oriented)
  • Appreciates honest feedback and coaching
  • Owns their process and performance
    • High standard of personal accountability and responsibility
  • Used to and values a collaborative, team environment
  • Performs assigned tasks with urgency
    • Inclusive of both communication and deliverables
  • Enjoys problem solving
  • Possesses mechanical aptitude (understands how things are built)
  • Comports himself or herself professionally through speech, timeliness, dress, hygiene, etc
Job Description:
  • Create site plans, architectural drawings, and structural details for outdoor living projects.
  • Develop standard details for future use.
  • Determine specific site requirements, such as impervious coverage, need for engineering, and other city specific requirements.
  • Produce documents that meet city permit requirements on first submittal, eliminating revision cycles.
  • Learn to design practical and buildable structures based on field measurements and concept renderings.
  • Manage document flow, communication, and revisions required to have drawings stamped by a subcontracted engineer.
  • Note: This job requires a spirit of independence and ownership over quality, speed, learning, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Completion of Associate’s degree in computer drafting or the like, especially with focus on architectural and civil drafting.
  • Highly proficient in AutoCad with the immediate ability to quickly produce scale site plans, details, and templates.
  • Willingness and ability to learn other CAD software and 3D rendering software, especially VIP3D.
  • Remote work may be an option in time, but the initial expectation is to work from our Houston office.
  • BA or BS degree desired
  • US Citizenship or permanent resident
Benefits:
  • Health insurance - base plan free to the employee
  • Vision and dental insurance offered
  • 401k and RothK plans offered
