Reports To: Chief Engineer
Summary
CAD Designer will be responsible for producing CAD drawings and documents for marine equipment.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the design of equipment and systems. Develop computer generated manufacturing drawings, 3D Models, details, data sheets, etc.
- Assist in the creation of Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Purchase Bill of Materials
- Assist in the verification of project work to ensure it is in accordance with the project contract documents, industry codes, standards and regulations, etc.
- Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences and errors
- Assist with monitoring and documenting drawing changes
- Review vendor POs for technical compliance
- Determine applicable vendors for key components
- Maintain project documentation as required
- Assist with creation of data packages
- Assist with technical aspects of quality receiving
- Participate in the NCR and SCAR processes
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Associates Degree a plus.
- 5+ years of experience working in a fabrication shop
- Experience developing CAD drawings and documents for welding and machining
- Experience using SolidWorks and AutoCad
- Basic understanding or willingness to learn standards, codes, and specifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication, decision making, and mechanical aptitude
- Position may occasionally require evening and weekend work. Some travel may be required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
- Must possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Results-oriented with willingness to take responsibility and initiative
