JOB TITLE:Cabling Technician
DUTY DAYS: 240

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Support district wide cabling technologies and associated equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications:
- High School degree with some college preferred
- Have a Valid Texas Driver's License and maintain insurance requirements of PISD
- ?Must pass drug test, physical, and be part of a random drug testing program. Must pass criminal history check
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Product specific certification and/or professional associations equivalent (BICSI,SCTE, etc.)
- Familiarity with low voltage electronics and associated equipment (meters).
- Troubleshooting skills with low voltage cables and related equipment.
- Knowledge of video surveillance equipment, installation, and maintenance. Experienced in campus security (intrusion, and access control systems)
- Experienced with cabling infrastructure installation on data, intrusion, PA, low voltage cables.
- Knowledge of sound systems and AV systems, troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Work with a sense of urgency, adaptable to change and eager to learn new technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing needs.
- Work well with other technical and management professionals.
- Experience using computers/laptops and Microsoft Office products (excel, word, etc.)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Design, evaluate, implement, and troubleshoot District cabling platforms that include fiber, category 6+, low voltage, speaker cable and coaxial cable.
2. Develop, design, implement, and troubleshoot campus security systems.
3. Troubleshoot and maintain AV and sound systems.
4. Maintain campus technology wiring closets and associated transport equipment.
5. The ability to work after hours and/or weekends whenneeded.
6. Eligible to become product certified.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Physical demands/Environmental Factors:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., be able to work on at least 14'+ ladder and man lift up to 30+ ft.
Frequent prolonged and irregular hours; Operate Motor vehicle; Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; steady phone interactions;
moderate standing, walking, and bending
Possible afterhours or weekend work when required
