The technology that powers Mainspring Energy's Linear Generator is unlike any other generator technology on the market. The Linear Generator relies on innovative electrical power and control hardware systems to achieve its best-in-class efficiency while meeting the world's strictest emissions requirements. These hardware systems are designed by a talented team of engineers that own hardware design from initial concept through test and manufacturing.

The Bay Area salary for this role is $108k-$165k base + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA. The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.

We have a highly impactful opportunity to shape the future of the Linear Generator's cabling system design. In this role, you will...
- Design cabling solutions for low voltage control cables (24VDC) and high voltage power cables (480VAC and 800VDC)
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical Design Engineers to define cabling requirements
- Own Cable Design decisions, including selecting components like wires, cables, connectors, terminals, sleeving, and retention features
- Define cable routing, retention, and lengths
- Translate designs into cable assembly and harness drawings. This can be done on your own using Solidworks or by partnering with our internal CAD team. (CAD experience is not required)
- Partner with the reliability team, manufacturing engineering team, and external suppliers to improve designs for reliability, manufacturability, and testability
- Troubleshooting complex cabling issues that arise during manufacturing or testing
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering, or a similar field, with at least one year of experience working on cabling design
- Successful communicator with a "collaborate-first" mindset, who will interface across a range of teams and personalities
- Self-starter and fast learner, enthusiastic to learn complex design concepts and work with a world class team
- A demonstrated high attention to detail when working on cabling designs
Nice to haves, but not required
- Experience supporting manufacturing of cable assemblies and harnesses
- Experience with cabling testing
- Experience maintaining a component library (terminals, connectors, cables, wires, etc.)
- Experience designing cabling for UL Listed products
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or familiarity
- Experience working at a startup or in a fast-paced product development environment
