Buying Assistant
Under the guidance of the Merchandising Team, the Buying Assistant supports the planning, article and
order creation of merchandise in the assigned department to optimize departmental sales and
company profitability. The Buying Assistant will be responsible for delivering agreed business, revenue,
and margin objectives in their area of responsibility.
The Buying Assistant is an integral part of the Buying Team and is critical to the delivery of the Buying
strategy. They must have a sound knowledge of the systems required to conduct their role successfully.
They should be able to provide a clear communication link between parts of the business as well as have
an entrepreneurial approach while maintaining the Company’s professional image.
Responsibilities
- Enter merchandising data into internal systems
- Communicate with vendors and showrooms
- Assist with event coordination
- Communicate effectively across the business, keeping management up to date with
their performance and any relevant business issues.
- Support the Buyer and Junior Buyer during the full buying cycle
- Assist with regular market research
- Perform other responsibilities and tasks as assigned
- Required: flexible to travel and able to attend off-site events outside of regularly scheduled work hours and days, including weekends, to support retail
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Great interpersonal skills and critical thinking skills
- Thorough understanding of the market and competitors
- Strong creative writing skills
- Ability to coordinate several competing priorities
- Jewelry and merchandising experience preferred
- College degree preferred, High School diploma required
- Passion for jewelry is a must
