Buyer Specialist

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position builds and maintains strong relationships with customers and account managers. The effective person in this position will assist the sales team in setting up new accounts. This person also needs good team skills to work effectively with all departments including accounting, operations, and dispatch.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Run and populate various reports daily.
• Review purchasing report and build orders.
• Place orders via vendor portals and emails.
• Enter orders operating system and verify pricing (notify Business Analyst when pricing does not match our confirmations and price files)
• Manage all direct shipments from suppliers to customers.
• Notify vendors when there are damages or inventory discrepancies / request credit or debits.
• Backup warehouse receiver on receiving BOLs in system.
• Backup Inside Sales Representative on intercompany transactions.
• Maintain vendor price files and update private label pricing spreadsheet weekly.
• Answer emails/phone calls from Sales Team with product availability and/or pricing questions.
• Generate shortage report, review shortages, and present data in Inventory Meeting.
• Maintain product data integrity in operating systems.

• Attention to detail.
• Excel experience including creating pivot tables, writing formulas, and finding discrepancies in data/reports.
• Strong communications skills, verbally and written.

• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and CRM systems
• Experience in handling high volume phone calls and working efficiently in a demanding environment.
