Butcher for Processing Plant and Kill Floor (Slaughter and process Facility)
Meat manufacturer in Frankston area. Full USDA inspected slaughter and process facility.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a beef processing environment. Experience in a supervisory or managerial role a strong positive.
- Knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP and safety protocols a plus.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills is a plus.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Physical capability to work in a fast-paced, cold environment.
- Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.
- Ability to use non-precision and precision hand tools.
- Ability to learn new systems, methods, and processes.
- A minimum of 18 years of age required.
Responsibilities
- Work kill floor operations ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with processing department to synchronize schedules.
- Work with and monitor strict safety and sanitation protocols.
- Conduct routine training for kill floor personnel to maintain skill proficiency with coworkers.
- Address and resolve any issues or disruptions in the kill process.
- Processes meat by removing fat, tenderizing, grinding, and/or cutting to proper thickness and size.
- Cut, weigh, package and labels product.
- Clean, assemble, and prepare machinery and equipment for operation, and examine to ensure proper function.
- Check product for quality control and ensure food safety standards are met.
- Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary working environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.
- Continuously exposed to equipment with sharp blades or edges.
- Continuously exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).
- Continuously exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.
- Frequently exposed to cleaning agents.
- Moderate to loud noise level.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.67 - $19.37 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
