Job Summary:
The Business Test and Turn Up Technician supports the MetroNet’s core and client network(s) by working with IP Engineering, Voice Engineering, Project Management, FOPs, NOC, Product Development, and other teams as needed to activate and trouble shoot end user services. Must have a basic understanding of programing, modification, and test procedures of phone, internet, and video products. Must have a background in IT/Help Desk/Telecommunication or A+, CCNA, CCNP or equitant degree/certification. The individual must be comfortable working in a fast paced, team environment. Attention to detail and communication is of utmost importance.
What you will be doing:
- Primary responsibility is to work with the Field Operations team to activate services for end users.
- Responsible for using management, monitoring and troubleshooting tools and interpreting the results in order to successfully identify, understand and resolve customer, network and server problems and improve performance.
- Manage performance via the call queue related to internal activation calls from Field Operations.
- Work directly with Field Operations personnel during installation and activation of services.
- Continue to learn and update internal knowledge base of new services, equipment, and testing procedures.
- Working in Metasolv, Q-Manager, Adtran, Nokia, Telco Systems equipment, AMS, AOE, and other systems to facilitate job functions.
- Open to working shift assignments and supporting on-call
What You Need For This Position:
- Background in IT/Help Desk/Telecommunication or A+, CCNA, CCNP or equitant degree/certification
- Highly responsible, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to learn quickly new skills
- Excellent organizational and follow up skills
- Demonstrate a positive attitude
- Ethical, fair and of high integrity
