DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Business Systems Manager performs a variety of property management and administrative functions for Aurora Military Housing. They often have direct contact with Aurora employees, vendors, the corporate office, tenants, and the military, and as such, must have a pleasant demeanor, possess strong people skills and the ability work well with people from diverse social and economic backgrounds. They are to conduct business in a manner that attracts and retains employees or residents by performing the general duties and specific duties, as well any other duties as assigned.
The Business Systems Manager is an integral part of the management team, playing a leadership role for daily operation, systems integrity, and long-term health of all physical and data assets on JBER. This position is responsible for administrating the Military Yardi Property Management Software, supplemental business software, as well as other systems in use, including training, technical support, and response, to front line users. Also responsible for maintaining statistics, reporting, monitoring of benchmarks, and active involvement with problem-solving. Must be able to define and develop policies, procedures, methods, or standards that enable the Management team to meet business demands.
JOB DUTIES
- Configure and maintain all Yardi software
- Provide daily oversight and respond to team, partners (MHO), and vendors
- Oversee vendor contracts and administration
- Identify, schedule, test, and execute software updates
- Configure and maintain all supplemental Business Systems software
- Including, but not limited to LMS, Access Control, CRM, and website CMS software
- Daily oversight and response to team, partners (MHO), and vendors
- Oversee vendor contracts and administration
- Identify, schedule, test, and execute software updates
- Assist the IT Manager with maintenance of all on site desktop and mobile phones
- Utilize existing management software (MDM) to maintain and update mobile phone profiles
- Maintain desktop VOIP system, configuring to meet business demands
- Monitor and report opportunities and challenges with core IT systems to the IT Manager
- Oversee all Aurora file directories and maintain data integrity and organization
- Adjust and improve content on internal SharePoint sites
- Process updates to intranet sites
- Process updates to user data
- Manage, oversee, configure, and implement all current and future software initiatives
- Research, evaluate, and present software and technology to improve efficiency
- Provide systems training for team and JBER partners (MHO)
- Oversee vendor contracts and administration
- Plan and implement systems upgrades
- Analyze and advise on business decisions specific to technology and software systems and processes
- Establish and maintain automations in core business processes and reporting
- Collaborate with unit managers to identify areas in need of optimization
- Build, test, and deploy automations
- Monitor, maintain, and update automations
- Administrative and other initiatives
- Adhere to and promote Company, MHO, and CBA policies
- Assist with departmental operational improvements and/or changes
- Attend staff and management meetings and communicates information with employees
- Participate and implement employee promotions and events, as appropriate
- Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Minimum Qualifications
- Three years professional experience in systems and administration, or coordination role preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License. Ability to be insured by company’s auto insurance.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and basic mathematics, persuasive skills, and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, management, or customers.
- Must possess excellent computer software and configuration skills; advanced knowledge of an array of business solutions products, including but not limited to: CRM, Website CMS system, BI solutions, Microsoft products (including the power platform) and Yardi Solutions products is preferred.
- Proficiency with software implementation and management is strongly preferred.

Supervision Received
The Business Systems Manager must possess the capability to work independently, under the supervision of the General Manager and/or Corporate Office. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
Supervision Exercised
The Business Systems Manager is a guide and support to all Supervisors and Managers at Aurora.

- Work is performed at various locations within the properties managed by JL Properties, Inc., and owned by Aurora Military Housing, LLC, Aurora Military Housing II, LLC, and Aurora Military Housing III, LLC at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
- The employee infrequently works in outside weather conditions.
In March 2001, JL Properties, along with Hunt Construction Company, was selected by the government to provide for the ownership, development, and operation of 828 housing units on Joint Base-Elmendorf in Anchorage, Alaska.
In September 2004, JL Properties also took over the ownership, development, and operation of the remaining 1,194 housing units on Joint Base-Elmendorf in Anchorage, Alaska.
In July 2011, JL Properties was selected to provide for the ownership, development, and operation of 1,240 housing units on Joint Base-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.
Today, Aurora Military Housing is JBER’s largest housing partner, responsible for a total of 3,262 family housing units.
