POSITION SUMMARY: The Business Systems Analyst Data Technology (BSA) will work closely with the Data Technology Manager, key stakeholders, and business users to identify gaps in current technologies and identify opportunities for new technology implementation that align with business goals. The BSA is responsible for working with stakeholders and business users to bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions. As such, the BSA will also be responsible for facilitating collaboration sessions, discovering ways to remove roadblocks, supporting all aspects of the SDLC, and acting as the administrator for new and current technologies. Finally, as a member of a cross-functional and collaborative team, the BSA will also perform some development tasks as needed. Overwhelmingly, the BSA will need to be a leader of the business in terms of data and technology, anticipating opportunities and identifying gaps ahead of the business rather than relying on the business to initiate these discussions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Engage with business partners to write user stories
- Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into technical documentation, such as mapping documents, flow charts, test plans and RTMs for developers.
- As the team scrum master, lead agile ceremonies (sprint planning, DSUs, product demos, retros) and manage board discipline to make sure all work is properly documented on the team task board.
- Perform system administration for third-party applications and engage with vendor consultants as needed.
- Organize collaboration sessions as needed to remove roadblocks and bridge communication gaps.
- Support business partners in user-acceptance testing (UAT), including environment stabilization, test setup, test execution and review of test results.
- Manage reporting environments and contribute to report and data-set development as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
- 5+ years with Microsoft Word
- 2+ years with Microsoft SQL (T-SQL)
- 2+ years with DataBricks
- 2+ years with Power BI
- 2+ years with Microsoft Visio
- Azure services (preferred)
- Scrum master-certified (preferred)
- CBAP (preferred)
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES:
- Familiarity with requirements-gathering techniques, such as interviewing, prototyping, mind mapping and others.
- Familiar with story-writing standards
- Prior experience with administering third-party systems.
- Familiarity with at least one agile framework (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
- Familiar with reading and producing technical documentation (e.g., mapping documents and vendor specifications).
- Ability to read and write T-SQL of moderate complexity.
- Ability to edit and create new Power BI data sets and reports of moderate complexity.
- Ability to read code of moderate complexity in other languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, C#).
