Other Conditions: We are temporarily located at the Manoa Innovation Center. Position is annually renewable every July 1 contingent on performance and availability of funds. This is not a remote position.
Duties and Responsibilities
(NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)
  1. **Serves as the Business System Analyst for the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) and develops a comprehensive understanding of the office's overall business processes.
  2. **Serves as a liaison between the technical teams and functional users by developing high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements for implementation.
  3. **Evaluates current business processes and software applications and identify improvements for consideration by management.
  4. **Coordinates end-user acceptance testing and validation. Participates and administers user acceptance testing and follows-up on issues.
  5. **Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining electronic research administration(eRA) software and applications used by OVPRI.
  6. Evaluates proposed eRA systems and software or process modifications, conducting assessments comparing them to the current system and business process and identifying potential problems.
  7. **Performs duties in relation to production support, system enhancements, and upgrades for eRA software and applications.
  8. **Advises supervisor of the progress of projects assigned, anticipated problems, major policy changes expected affecting specialized area, and completion of projects assigned.
  9. **Develops and keeps current user guides and training materials.
  10. **Conducts and presents training programs to internal and/or external organizations.
  11. **Serves as backup coverage to the Helpline staff as requests.
  12. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in management information systems, computer science, information technology, business administration, or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities in Business System analysis; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the management of electronic information and/or research administration as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with research administration.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  8. If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  9. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  10. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple, dynamic priorities.
  11. Demonstrated ability to understand, collect, and analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to the system.
  12. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with team members and shareholders effectively to solve problems.
  13. Demonstrated ability to conduct training for varying group sizes online and in person.
  14. Demonstrated proficiency in office software to create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.

Desirable Qualifications
  1. Working knowledge of administrative policies/procedures of a public/private institution of higher education.
  2. Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in managing electronic information and/or research administration
  3. Familiarity and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, theories, and systems associated with research administration.
