The City of Littleton is seeking a highly organized and self-motivated individual to become an integral part of our team as a Business Support Assistant. This Business Support Assistant position furnishes information and provides excellent customer service to callers, visitors, and staff of the Littleton Museum.
The ideal candidate enjoys helping people, is resourceful, adaptable, and has the ability to manage multiple priorities and requests with a calm demeanor. You will excel in this role if you like to stay busy, don’t mind switching between tasks, and enjoy providing customer service for a variety of diverse stakeholders.
This part-time position will work a rotating schedule with another Business Support Assistant and is eligible for benefits, at 24-hour part-time rates, which includes medical, dental, vision, and paid time off.

This part-time position is non-exempt per FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Work Schedule: This part-time position works a rotating schedule with another Business Support Assistant alternating every other weekend off. This position is onsite, in person at the Littleton Museum. Teleworking options are not available for this position.

Hours per pay period: 48

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors and provides friendly customer service for museum patrons.
  • Answers phones, directs calls as needed, and returns voicemail messages.
  • Sells merchandise, operates a cash register, restocks gift shop, and keeps gift shop clean.
  • Assists with group reservations and coordinates payment.
  • Handles in-person event ticket sales.
  • May be responsible for opening and closing museum building. This may include but is not limited to arming and disarming the alarm system; locking and unlocking doors; turning on or shutting off lights; and clearing building of visitors.
  • Performs clerical work as assigned, such as printing mailing labels, distributing mail, assisting with bulk mailing, filing, sorting.
  • Keeps an eye on visitors for any behavior issues or concerns; ensures museum rules are followed.
  • Maintains supplies and cleanliness at front desk.
  • Works with volunteers and oversees their job tasks of welcoming visitors to the museum, answering the phone and in-person questions at the front desk.
  • Responds and assists visitors or staff in emergency situations by following written procedures.
  • Observes and follows established city and department policies and procedures in the daily conduct of the job.
  • Plans daily work schedule and establishes priorities to complete scheduled, assigned work with supervisor's guidance based on overall site and visitation needs.
  • Ability to work during the assigned work schedule and/or work additional hours during special events or as needed.
  • Performs other assignments and projects as required.
  • May serve as an emergency worker.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; and
  • One (1) year previous work experience in a customer service and administrative support related position with excellent interpersonal skills; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with customer service, cash handling, and retail.
  • Experience working in a museum, public building, and or a municipality.
  • Prior experience working with volunteers or volunteering at a museum.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to effectively and courteously communicate and interact with visitors, callers, and staff members who request information and services.
  • Ability to recall and communicate about programs, exhibits, and services.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as personal computer, telephone, and security alarms.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
  • The essential duties/activities for the position are performed indoors in a standard indoor office/reception area environment. Minimal outdoor work is performed while running errands to the Littleton Center in a personal vehicle in weather conditions that range from moderate to severe including rain, snow, ice, dust, heat.
  • Physical activities include the ability to: lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 10 pounds or less with or without assistance.
