Summary:

FirstBank is a Tennessee-based community bank with over $10 billion in assets and regulated by the FDIC.  FB Ventures is a division of FirstBank that includes Mortgage, Specialty Lending Group, and Investment Partners. The FB Ventures Business Risk team is responsible for annual and ongoing risk assessments, monitoring of key risk indicators, key performance indicators, and entity-level investor requirements, business continuity and disaster recovery oversight, and coordination of Model Risk Management, Insurance, and independent audits and reviews.

The FB Ventures Business Risk Analyst is a strategic and integral role for the overall success of FB Ventures. This role is responsible for being the liaison for external and internal audits, regulatory exams and investor reviews. This dynamic position provides opportunities for working across FB Ventures, including across the operations, Second Line and Third Line (internal audit).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as liaison between 3rd, 2nd and 1st lines for FirstBank Ventures business units’ Internal and External Audits, Regulatory Exams (to include safety and soundness exams), and Investor Reviews. As liaison responsible for:
    • Communicating program and/or review requirements and deadlines to 1st line business or control owners. This includes working to clarify requests with the FB’s 2nd line exam liaisons or internal and external auditors or GSE representatives when needed.
    • Ensuring a secure FTP site is used or other secure sites for sending requested documents, setting up the site as needed. Where not available, assuring that all communication and documents are submitted using secure (encrypted) emails when handling non-public or confidential information.
    • Assuring requirements are satisfied, and deadlines are met for each request received. Keeping the business owner and the FBV Senior Risk Manager informed regarding what has been submitted and what is remaining.
    • Clarifying and organizing submissions prior to sending to 2nd line liaison or internal or external auditors. Assists management in their responses to assure that they are clear, concise, and accurate and pertain to the request(s).
    • Working with the FBV’s Senior Business Risk manager to help the business unit define remediation action plans and related deadlines. Follow-up with management to assure that action plans are executed completely, accurately and on time.
    • Responsible for keeping the FBV Findings board up to date, assuring all new findings are added timely.
    • Performing tests to confirm that remediation action plans have been executed and reflect the agreed action plans. Once tests are completed and action plans are confirmed closed, submit a closure request to 2nd line with related supporting documentation. Confirm that related 1L standard policy and procedures are updated as needed related to these findings.
  • Identify and maintain an inventory of GSE and agency requirements to include assessing risks for each requirement in the inventory. Work with FBM Quality Control and the FBV Internal Control team on determining related controls for each risk and in building test procedures where needed.
  • Assist the FBV Senior Risk Manager in Model Risk Management Program compliance.
  • As first line liaison assist second line Risk Management with annual Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Plan updates and testing.
  • As first line liaison assist second line Risk Management (Insurance) with their annual insurance application process. This includes the following types of insurance related to Investor Requirements:
      • Property & Casualty
      • Errors and Omissions (E&O)
      • Financial Institution Bond for GSEs (Trustee)
      • Insurance for other mortgages held for investment
      • Other Insurance as required 
  • Maintain solid working relationships with FirstBank’s First Line, Second Line and internal audit. Act as brand ambassador of the Internal Controls and the Three Lines Model by developing solid working relationships across the organization as to facilitate communication and strategic partnerships.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc assignments and special projects.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required in risk, external or internal audit or quality assurance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the financial services industry, mortgage or manufactured housing lending strongly preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and presentations skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and/or leading projects.
  • Excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the financial services sector, particularly with investor and/or GSE requirements and lending practices
  • Knowledge of FINRA, SEC, CFPB and OCC rules and regulations a plus
