Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas is seeking a qualified Business Office Float for our Business Office!

**Schedule: PRN basis - as needed**

JOB SUMMARY
Serves as a float position to assist in insurance verification and patient registration.  Interface with visitors, patients, family, and physicians, physician office staff, insurance companies on phone and in person for patient admission to Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas and insurance verification of surgical services for patients of the facility.  Will be asked to move between functions as the needs of the business dictate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs clerical duties involved with admission of patients, keeping delays to a minimum
• Ensures identification, insurance and all Admissions paperwork is accurate and scanned into the PAS system
• Directs patient to appropriate area upon arrival
• Ensures patient is registered and marked properly in the PAS system
• Understands how to add a walk-in or direct admit into the PAS system
• Prepares charts/packets as assigned
• Expedites patient complaints and concerns promptly to correct department
• Answers incoming calls, responding correctly or transferring as needed
• Assists with distribution of messages
• Responds promptly when code is alerted
• Logs payments, maintains daily and balance cash drawer
• Completes Beginning and End of Shift duties
• Maintains organized and cleanliness appearance of lobby areas
• Maintains the insurance verification workload utilizing PAS queue information.
• Ensures that all verifications are complete and accurate, takes appropriate action when timelines are missed.
• Work with hospital and physician office employees to ensure smooth and efficient flow of incoming verifications.
• Proficient in managed care contract interpretation to include ability to process cases accordingly.
• Participates in team meetings.
• Ensures cases are authorized per insurance carrier recommendation and guidelines.
• Notification to appropriate staff and offices regarding pending authorizations.
• Works correspondence pertaining to insurance authorizations, if applicable.
• Responds to messages left from employees, physician offices or patients in timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

Licensure/Certification

Specific Job Experience

• Minimum 1 year customer service experience, previous medical office or hospital experience preferred
