RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business and Economy Reporting:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on local businesses, economic trends, and developments in the local economy.
- Produce comprehensive reports on job markets, economic indicators, and financial updates relevant to readers.
- Provide insightful coverage of entrepreneurship, industry trends, and economic policies affecting the community.
Education Reporting:
- Create informative and engaging content on multiple elementary schools, 7 local high schools, Dickinson State University, and overall educational initiatives.
- Report on school board decisions, academic achievements, and educational challenges impacting the area.
- Provide in-depth analysis and coverage of educational policies and reforms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred, but not required. Equivalent work experience in reporting/writing in lieu of education will be considered.
- Strong reporting and writing skills, with the ability to produce clean and concise copy under daily deadlines.
- Demonstrated news gathering skills; working knowledge of AP style preferred.
- Strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and with other reporters, copy editors, and editors.
- Experience with multimedia journalism including video, audio, and social media is highly preferred.
