Locations:
This is a hybrid role with an office in White River Junction, VT. The role will require about 80% travel time within the service region (Upper Valley area).
Visiting Nurse and Hospice for VT & NH covers more than 140 towns delivering superior nursing, rehabilitation, hospice, and personal care services with proven effectiveness, integrity, and compassion. The Business Development Specialist is responsible for growing the home health and hospice census, achieving or surpassing market share goals, and being a positive reflection of VNH. The Specialist develops and implements a regular structured program of contact and outreach to identify new referral sources and to maintain an ongoing relationship with partners, providers, and referral sources that will increase the census and preference for VNH, with an emphasis on hospice services.
The Specialist is a solutions-oriented, team player who supports referral partners, patients, family and team throughout the referral to admission process. The Specialist has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is known for follow through and is outstanding at building lasting professional relationships.
The Business Development Specialist will:
  • Identifies new referral sources utilizing available resources and their community contacts.
  • Works with President & CEO to develop, implement and evaluate quarterly territory plans to achieve goals and to implement strategies and actions as defined by marketing strategic plans.
  • Develops appropriate call plan to achieve pre-established objectives. Conducts a minimum of thirty (30) sales calls and presentations each week and generates referrals by building long-term business partnerships.
  • Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends when necessary for special projects.
  • Uses appropriate established techniques for sales calls including opening, probing needs, presentation, handling objectives and closing. Meets admission targets consistently on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Prepares and conducts sales and educational presentations for providers, businesses and local community groups regarding VNH services and benefits.
  • Works with referral sources to improve understanding of hospice services to grow census.
  • Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of VNH markets including major payer groups, key referral sources, and competitor's market positioning.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree in health related/marketing field preferred.
  • Prior sales and marketing experience with strong track record of establishing contacts and achieving monthly targets.
  • Knowledge of the home health/hospice industry and local markets preferred.
  • Ability to market proactively and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
  • Demonstrates good communications skills, negotiation skills, and public relations skills.
  • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in
    performing job responsibilities.
