Business Continuity Planner

Swoon is looking to find a Business Continuity Specialist for our top client one of the largest banks in Canada and North America.

• Remote position but required to go in office a few times a year

The Business Continuity Specialist is responsible for supporting an assigned business/group in the implementation and maintenance of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Problem/Event/Recovery Management frameworks. They provide subject matter expertise and guidance to mitigate risk, enhance processes and protocols, and ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory policies and guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining Business Continuity Planning (BCP) projects and recovery capabilities for the designated jurisdiction and business/group.
• Collaborating with designated groups to ensure critical processes are in place in the event of a significant business interruption.
• Acting as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group and providing guidance for mid-sized to large enterprise-wide Business Continuity Management (BCM) initiatives and event management incidents.
• Influencing and negotiating to achieve business objectives and recommending and implementing solutions based on analysis of issues.
• Leading the development, maintenance, and management of the LOB Incident Management and Recovery Process.
• Developing and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders to fulfill service delivery expectations.
• Managing databases, analyzing data, and producing regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
• Leading or participating in change management activities and defining communication plans.
• Monitoring and tracking performance, addressing any issues, and providing input into operational programs.
• Supporting the implementation of BCP, Problem/Event/Recovery Management frameworks, and disaster recovery programs.
• Coordinating the implementation and facilitation of BCP solutions, including documentation and testing.
• Ensuring Business Continuity plans and testing conform to industry regulations and requirements.

Qualifications:

• Typically 5-7 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Industry certification in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) or Crisis Management is considered an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration and team skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, influence skills, and data-driven decision-making abilities.
