Position Summary
ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Green River's service areas are increasingly ethnically diverse, comprising African Americans, African immigrants, Asian Americans, Asians, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Middle Eastern Americans, among other communities.

Green River Community College seeks a creative, dynamic, and collaborative individual to fill the position ofProgram Manager in the Continuing Education (CE) department for the college which serves up to 4,000 students per year and generates approximately $500,000 in revenue.
The Business and Technology Program Manager reports directly to the Director of Corporate and Continuing Education and works cross-departmentally to achieve division and college goals through community engagement, program marketing, and policy development.
Under general supervision, this position leads and manages Continuing Education Professional Development, Technology and Online Learning programs and classes, in advancement of department goals.
This position will develop budget and enrollment targets in alignment with division goals and will be responsible for the continuous creation of new classes as well as program improvement.
The position is located at the Kent Campus, and provides programming for the Kent Campus, Auburn Center, Enumclaw Campus, Main Campus, and community locations. May require local travel between campus locations as well as occasional evening and weekend hours.
Position Responsibilities
Program Development and Management
Provide leadership and campus-level coordination with instructors and staff in the development and implementation of Continuing Education Professional Development and Technology programs.
Research and assess employer demand and workforce training needs to develop short-term certificate programs and courses.
In conjunction with subject matter experts and instructors, engage in curriculum development and oversight.
Develop and implement an annual schedule of course offerings, including facility scheduling.
Interview, evaluate, recommend, coach and hire instructors using established contractual guidelines and procedures.
In conjunction with the CE team, engage in continuous process improvement regarding procedures for all aspects of the CE department.
Provide leadership for daily operations of Professional Development and Technology courses, including problem solving, course cancellations, advising, registration, material ordering, and preparation, while providing high quality customer service to all students.
Evaluate and improve program quality through student feedback and instructor observations.
Use financial information and program budget information to make course cancellation decisions.
Manage the payroll process, prepare MOUs/contracts, and manage third party vendors.
Marketing and Promotion
Serve as the primary marketing copywriter for Professional Development and Technology courses and certificate programs.
Represent CE and/or the Director at assigned industry, community, and college events.
Work with the Director and other staff to develop plans and implement strategies to market classes and certificate programs to ensure optimum enrollments and program success.
In conjunction with College Relations and the CE Team produce the quarterly schedule for Professional Development, Technology and Online Learning programs.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, Business, Public Administration or related field, direct experience with evidence of quality performance may count for education up to 2 years.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating adult professional development programs.
  • Ability to work independently, balancing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a community organization, corporate training, professional association, education or training program.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems and/or complaints tactfully.
  • Highly proficient with MS-Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Dedicated team player who interacts harmoniously with staff and works well under pressure.
  • Strong ethics and integrity with a commitment to quality and professionalism.
  • Attention to detail, with excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Commitment to the college's mission of providing high quality and equitable customer service to all students.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MA in adult education, organizational development or other field related to the position.
  • Budgeting and fiscal management experience.
  • Experience working in a self-support Continuing Education environment.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supervising instructors in a business environment.
  • Program marketing experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Curriculum development experience.
