Hourly Pay Rate: $16.70+ (Salary placement is based on experience.)

Job Summary:
Assist bus driver in managing passenger conduct and ensuring passenger safety over assigned routes while abiding by all applicable Federal, State, and District rules and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the bus driver in maintaining safe student conduct on the bus by observing students and their behavior in accordance wit transportation procedures, the transportation referral form, and the student's IEP. Enforce school district policy regarding student discipline. 
  • Assist students as needed while loading and unloading. Assist students in the use of child safety restraint systems (CSRS) and wheelchairs.  
  • Assure the orderly loading and unloading  of students on the bus to include proper loading and  securing of wheelchairs. Establish and maintain good student relations. 
  • Assist the driver in following established routes and designated stops.
  • Maintain a confidential monitor's reference book with student information to assist the driver with  tracking student attendance, addresses, phone numbers, and any special requirement, needs or emergency information. 
  • Assist the driver in cleaning the bus, scraping windows during inclement weather, and maintaining up-to-date routes.
  • Provide written documentation to appropriate personnel regarding violations of the student code.
  • Perform first aid, including CPR, in emergency situations.
  • Assist driver with emergency evacuation plans and drills.
  • Assist the driver during emergency situations or mechanical failures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Education, Training and Experience:

 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 0 - 2 years experience. Experience working with children and/or children with special needs preferred.
  • First Aid, CPR, and nonviolent crisis intervention training required within 90 days of hire.            
  • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
