BUS DRIVER
Summary/Objective
The purpose of this position is to provide safe and reliable transportation for all Space Camp Programs, daily groups, and all special events in a professional manner ensuring that guests receive quality service that reflects the Mission, Vision, and Spirit of the Rocket Center.
Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions

A. Transport guests of the USSRC and Space Camp to and from the Huntsville Airport, Surrounding Schools, and other locations within the State.
B. Drive Tour bus for the Marshall Space Flight Center Bus Tour.
C. Operate any USSRC vehicle and meet any other transportation requirements that might arise.
E. Operate company vehicles in an effective, efficient, and safe manner and ensure that all malfunctions are reported promptly for repair.
F. Transports employees, guests, and trainees in a safe and timely manner.
G. Respond to, and whenever possible, resolve guests’ questions and complaints promptly and in a manner, that reflects the Mission, Vision, and Spirit of the Rocket Center.
H. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Transportation Manager for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.
Supervisory Responsibilities No
Required Education and Experience
Education: High School or G.E.D.
Experience: 2-3 years experience driving commercial vehicles is required. Class B with Passenger and Air Brake endorsement or higher Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. Must have some knowledge of bus operations and equipment; demonstrated substantive experience in the operations of large buses, minibusses, and/or vans.
Work Hours (Must be able to work at least two shifts)
- Monday through Friday: 6:00 am-3:30 pm
- Sunday through Thursday Nights: 3:00 pm-11:00 pm
- Friday and Saturday: 6:00 am-11:00 pm
- Open Availability (Can work any shift)
Work Environment/Physical Demands Summary
This position has the following special requirements:
A. Walking and climbing (stairs) to access other departments, buildings, and company vehicles.
B. Sitting for prolonged periods of time (over 3 hours) several times a day while driving center vehicles and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds to waist height.
C. Bending, kneeling, reaching to inspect center vehicles and operate controls.
D. Reading, sight, wrist movements and feeling to operate center vehicles.
E. Talking and hearing to communicate with supervisor, guests, and employees in person and to give verbal instructions to passengers.
F. Ability to safely enter and exit all center vehicles.
This position involves working the operation of center vehicles in various weather conditions and temperatures. The position deals extensively with guests and children. The position deals with employees who interact with assigned area of responsibility.
