Job SummaryThe Building Technician III, HVAC is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical maintenance, service tasks, and installations, including domestic and commercial refrigeration, HVAC equipment, chillers, boilers, refrigerated food service equipment, water heaters, faucets, toilets, and other plumbing/HVAC systems and their auxiliary components. This role involves working closely with other team members and departments to ensure efficient and effective operations that align with the university’s mission. This position reports to the Manager of Mechanical Services. This position is classified as non-exempt under FLSA regulations. Specific Responsibilities· Project Execution: Perform installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks on various mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing equipment.· Operations Support: Assist in developing maintenance schedules and plans to ensure timely completion of work orders. Collaborate with relevant departments to identify and execute improvement areas across campus.· Technical Support: Evaluate and troubleshoot building automation systems, adjusting controls to maintain prescribed temperatures and ensure system efficiency.· Resource Utilization: Assist in pricing and procuring equipment and supplies required for daily operations, regular maintenance, and emergency repairs.

EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
ExperienceGraduate of a vocation or technical school or a minimum of 4 years’ experience in mechanical-related construction and maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesProficient in plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration systems, including mechanical maintenance.Familiar with modern building automation control systems, including programming, reporting, and troubleshooting. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to follow and convey instructions effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools for communication and data management. Flexible work schedule, including the availability for overtime as required.
Additional Requirements
· This position requires a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle.· Participate in being “on-call” after-hours as required.
Physical Demand
Capable of using various machinery, hand, and power tools associated with the trade.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.), work in all weather conditions, and in confined spaces as needed.

Education
Vocational or technical school training in construction or building maintenance preferred.
