Position Details:This position located at the Institute of Agricultural BioSciences in Ardmore, OK. Under the direction of the Department Head, assess, discuss, and schedule maintenance needed of facilities and equipment. Maintenance provided will include correction of problems in the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems as well as architectural finishes. Facilities include buildings, greenhouses, and landscape. Responsibilities may also include supervision of facilities maintenance and repair. Provide oversight for building security including security systems, interactions with local law enforcement, maintenance of building’s electronic security systems, supervision of lock and key system, and maintenance of fences and gates. Provide for management and maintenance of the facility landscape including equipment, irrigation system, driveways, walkways and parking areas. Provide for management and maintenance of facilities grounds including mowing and/or supervision of sub contractors providing grounds work. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED and two years' experience in a building trade; or the equivalent of 600 hours vocational/technical education in a related building trade field.
Valid drivers license. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.
Certified EPA Refrigerant Usage card.
Highly developed ability to observe and take notes, good communication skills, ability to follow instructions closely, ability to work with very little supervision. Ability to access tight spaces to perform job, pass a respirator fit test, and wear full face respirator for extended periods. May need to climb and/or work from stairs, ladders, scaffold, etc. for extended periods. Ability to work in a squat position or on knees for extended periods.
Broad general mechanical/electrical/electronic background. General building skill experience (i.e. carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, etc.). Ability to become proficient in the use of Aim Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational/Technical
Two years post-secondary education in the building trades with five (5) years of prior successful work experience in mechanical HVAC and/or electrical experience in the building trades or technical field.
Journeyman license for HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical Mechanical skills and experience with maintenance and minor repair of heating, cooling, electrical and/or plumbing systems. Ability to supervise personnel and interact and collaborate with research and extension faculty members, scientists and students. Apprentice license in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing. Good organizational skills and ability to coordinate maintenance of infrastructure of the station.
Strong written and oral communications, record keeping and organization skills to maintain correspondence with on site research scientists and off site administrators and research collaborators. Knowledge of state and federal mechanical and electrical codes; knowledge of safety regulations; broad knowledge of construction and maintenance.
