Job Summary:
Performs and supervise a wide variety of custodial duties and building maintenance. Perform grounds maintenance. Prepare and maintain various reports, logs, and records related to supplies, equipment, systems and buildings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs and maintenance to refrigeration and heating systems, fire controls, lockers, door mechanisms, and various other electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
- Supervise all types of custodial duties including, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking.
- Perform custodial duties including, cleaning and finishing floors, cleaning windows, removing trash, sanitation of restrooms, stocking supplies, etc.
- Perform grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, watering, edging, and removing weeds, trash, and snow. Perform safety inspections of the grounds and equipment.
- Prepare and maintain various records and reports.
- Open buildings, including deactivating alarm systems and checking mechanical systems.
- Plan and order custodial supplies.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties associated with cleaning and maintenance.
- Inspect and maintain fire protection systems, security systems, and other safety devices.
- Plan, inventory, and order supplies and equipment. Monitor and control the budget for supplies and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Frequent travel between schools, or between schools and the Central Office, is required.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in the performance of duties.
- Wears appropriate safety gear, including masks.
- Must comply with school district's chemical hygiene program and follow MSDS sheets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to read labels on containers and materials used in the course of work.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to process paperwork accurately according to standardized procedures.
- Knowledge of how to use equipment, and train others in the use of equipment.
- Organizational and time management skills.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent plus leadership training.
- Valid Driver License.
- Over three years of experience in general custodial and/or facility maintenance work (one year of supervisory experience). Five years of experience preferred.
- Basic math, writing, communication, computer, and accounting skills.
- Ability to operate various types of cleaning equipment, power tools, and maintenance equipment required at hire, including carpet cleaners, floor buffers, snow blowers, lawn mowers, and fork lifts.
- Basic knowledge of various chemicals and OSHA requirements.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
