Burr Ridge C.C.S.D. 180 is seeking an individual to serve as the Anne M. Jeans Elementary School Night Custodian in a 12-month position beginning August 16th.
One successful candidate will be able to work evenings (1PM-9PM) (3PM-11PM if the building is being used for evening events) during the school year and day hours during the summer break.

The Anne M. Jeans Elementary School Night Custodian is responsible for the custodial and maintenance activities for AMJES. He/She must be knowledgeable in general maintenance and responsible when securing the building. In addition, he/she is responsible for the upkeep of the school grounds.
Qualifications: Demonstrated aptitude for the successful completion of tasks in the fulfillment of the assigned responsibilities.
Experience with school custodial services or the equivalent in custodial service in other institutions and/or firms.
Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician including a TB test.
State of Illinois fingerprinting and background check in compliance with state code and district policy requirements. A fingerprint-based criminal history records check and a check of the Statewide Sex Offender Database and Violent Offender Against Youth Database (when available) will be performed on the successful candidate as required by State law. Each newly hired employee must complete an Immigration and Naturalization Service Form as required by federal law. The District retains the right to discharge any employee whose criminal background investigation reveals a conviction for committing or attempting to commit any of the offenses outlined in Section 5/21-23a of The School Code or who falsifies, or omits facts from, his or her employment application or other employment documents.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Principal, Building Maintenance Supervisor, Director of Building and Grounds
Brief Description of Position: Must be able to perform basic building cleaning duties to provide a healthy, safe and attractive physical environment. Must be available to assist in other areas and other custodians as needed. Must cooperate with teachers, students, parents and community members as the custodian represents the district. Must be responsible in securing the building at all times. Must be willing to work additional hours when asked.
Performance Responsibilities:
* Perform basic cleaning duties to keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
* Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
* Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.
* Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
* Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
* Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when required.
* Scrubs and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
* Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
* Keeps the grounds free from rubbish and weeds.
* Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
* Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
* Cleans all chalkboards and whiteboards at least once a week.
* Makes such minor building repairs, as s/he is capable of.
* Reports major repairs needed promptly to the principal and building supervisor.
* Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during no school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance required by the principal.
* Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
* Perform basic building cleaning duties.
* • Carry out scheduled cleaning duties and preventive maintenance on all buildings and building equipment.
* Follow recommended and established cleaning procedures in assigned areas of responsibilities.
* Be available to assist in other areas and other custodians as needed.
* Assist in maintaining standards of building and site cleanliness to provide a healthy, safe, and attractive physical environment.
* To maintain a sense of pride in the areas of responsibility which are presented to the public.
* Assist visitors and building groups as needed.
* Assist with building security by making routine facility checks, reporting any suspicious occurrences, and securing buildings daily.
* Follow established safety procedures at all times.
* Be available for weekend building checks and emergency calls as needed.
* Understand that an occasional need will arise to work a split shift or a weekend activity.
* Be directly responsible to the building principal and work under the guidance of the maintenance supervisor.
* Be able to lift 50 pounds in the daily performance of the position and an occasional 50-70 pounds.
* Required to work evening hours when school is in session and days during summer break.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Depending upon experience, the position pays $20.00 per hour and partial insurance benefits.
