Job Description
As a Building Automation Controls Installation Technician, you will be responsible for but not limited to the installation of control panels, controllers, conduit, & wiring of devices as needed for a new or existing BAS system. You will also perform the loading of programs into system level controller and point to point commissioning of the system.
Normal Hours: Monday-Friday 7AM-4PM plus Overtime (after 8hrs per day).
Skills & Responsibilities of Building Automation Controls Installation Technician:
- Usage of a variety of hand tools
- Read drawings and understand ladder logic.
- Install conduit from PVC, EMT to Rigid.
- Install relays, actuators, and sensors.
- Install communication such as LON, BACnet and Cat5.
- Wiring and installation of control panels.
- Calibration and troubleshooting of systems requiring electronic test equipment.
- Commissioning of air handlers, VAV systems, end devices, etc.
- Provide service-related information to Controls Supervisor regarding estimates, problems, and customer feedback.
- Provide accurate paperwork to Controls Supervisor and Service Administrators and Coordinators.
Education and/or Experience Required for HVAC Controls Installation Technician:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver license with no major or frequent traffic violations.
- Minimum of 2 years of installing Building Automation systems or electrical experience.
- Must have ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets.
- Must have ability to use testing equipment.
- Professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capability.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs and ladders. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and possible extreme weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage); and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
