Job Summary
The Building Access Control Coordinator oversees Building Access Control for all campus facilities, enclosures, and equipment in accordance with plan approved by administration. The Coordinator uses tools, technology and operational experience to perform technical and consultative tasks associated with Access Control system applications, maintenance, monitoring, installation, planning, purchase, and ongoing oversight.
Responsibilities- Oversees all aspects of exterior and interior Building Access Control(s)
- Participates in Access Control planning and development for new and existing buildings, coordinating or attending meetings between campus departments, vendors, and contractors to determine the design and type of hardware, software or operating system which will be compatible with existing hardware and operating systems on campus
- Manages Lenel/OnGuard panic alarm program(s) to include dissemination of approved devices
- Obtains detailed price quotes for security system products, coordinates installations, submits payment requests, and maintains accurate records of warranties and service agreements
- Manages the maintenance and repairs of all Access Control hardware and software and associated equipment
- Provides customer service support for Access Control devices and services in accordance to a plan approved by administration
- Fabricate keys for commercial grade door locks by use of key cutting machines; Exchange door lock cores and/or hardware
- Maintains comprehensive records to include issuance and return of Access Control devices; service requests and details of follow-up services; scheduled maintenance inspections; and securely maintains storage of available keys, codes, cards and fob
- Performs other duties as assigned; performance of duties may require hours other than established college business hours including weekends and returns to campus after hours
- High School or GED
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- 2 Year / Associate Degree
- Experience in both digital and mechanical Access Control systems.
- Experience working with Lenel / OnGuard or similar systems.
- Experience in using equipment to fabricate keys and repair, or install, locking mechanisms.
- Knowledge of current technology associated with campus safety and Access Control systems
- Knowledge of steps associated with Access Control planning for new or renovated building design
- Knowledge of basic computer programs
- Ability to maintain and to interpret, define, apply, and make decisions in accordance to applicable policies, guidelines, manufacture recommendations, warranty requirements, service agreements, etc
- Ability to learn new technology as resources change and develop
- Ability to plan, organize and implement various programs such as emergency alert program
- Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, emails, in-person, online meetings, etc
- Ability to work cooperatively with other employees, campus guests, vendors, and visitors and effectively manage situations requiring diplomacy, fairness, firmness, and mediate difficult situations
- Skill in producing written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction; efficiency in completing assigned work, preparing complete and accurate records, creating and maintaining a safe work environment
- Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to work with hand tools
- Must be proficient with computers and Microsoft applications
