Habitat’s Build Department directly improves the living conditions of low-income families by creating safe, healthy, affordable dwellings through the construction of new multi- and single-unit new housing, whole house rehab projects, and owner-occupied home repair work.
Position Objective
Reporting to the Build Operations and Compliance Manager, the Warehouse and Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the physical assets used by the Build team to perform home construction and repair work. Responsibilities include warehouse organization, tool upkeep, vehicle maintenance, vendor coordination, and supply purchasing. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized self-starter with hands-on experience in residential construction, materials purchasing, inventory and warehouse management.
Key Responsibility Area: PURCHASING, INVENTORY and ORGANIZATION OF MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES
Harness bulk pricing to maintain a stock of commonly used construction materials and PPE for use on construction and repair projects
Coordinate with Project Managers to organize and store project-specific materials and equipment such as cabinets, windows, and appliances in preparation for use on job sites by construction teams; facilitate the return of unused items as needed
Coordinate with Build Administrator as needed for financial documentation and tracking of project-specific materials
Implement an inventory system to manage and track materials, equipment and vehicles housed in HFHP facilities
Regularly research and coordinate centralized donation opportunities for use in construction, rehabilitation, and repair projects
Be present onsite to receive deliveries of Build materials, equipment, and supplies
Key Responsibility Area: WAREHOUSE and STORAGE FACILITIES
Maintain warehouse storage and workspaces, creating an environment that is organized, safe, and efficient to use
Perform ongoing inventory and maintenance of tools and equipment with regular disposal, sale, or donation of items no longer in use
Manage building and lot maintenance tasks including coordination of work from subcontractors and vendors, such as snow removal services, waste management, routine roof maintenance, etc.
Coordinate regular Build vehicle service and maintenance work as well as annual inspections and registrations
Coordinate volunteers to assist with warehouse maintenance tasks and projects
Coordinate with Build team members to purchase tools, equipment, and vehicles
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
5+ years of experience working in relevant work settings such as residential construction, materials purchasing, inventory and warehouse management, with demonstrated experience in purchasing management or procurement
Must have familiarity with residential construction tools and materials; hands-on construction experience and skill in a variety of repair and maintenance tasks preferred
Proficiency with operation and maintenance of power tools, hand tools, equipment, and vehicles; forklift operation a plus
Experience in basic Microsoft Office Suite, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
Ability to work independently on self-directed tasks and complex projects, including the ability to create and maintain basic budgets and schedules
Excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills; professional attitude and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with unskilled volunteers and in diverse populations
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
Possess or would be willing to gain necessary certifications in safety/First Aid, OSHA 30 and EPA RRP certification
Desire to exhibit and promote the Habitat for Humanity philosophy, and an ability to effectively serve people of all backgrounds
Effective December 1, 2022, all new hires are not required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but it is strongly encouraged
Physical Requirements to Perform Duties
Ability to: regularly lift 40-80 pounds; work on ladders and scaffolding on heights up to two stories; work in unconditioned spaces (heat of summer, cold of winter)
