Bronx NY Preschool Teacher Aide
Base Salary $36,250 plus $3,000 After Care
Summary:
As a member of the charter school faculty, the Teacher Aide will assist in the supervision and instructional support of classroom and student activities as a collaborative team member under the direction of a certified Classroom Teacher.
Qualifications:
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate study (60 credits).
- Associates degree preferred.
- Minimum of one year teacher assistant experience preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality and interests and learning/motivational techniques.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
- Possess a valid driver's license preferred.
- Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
- Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.
- Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Lead Person/CEO and/or School Business Administrator find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities
The Teacher Aide responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Pursue the vision and execute the mission of the iLearn Schools Inc.
- Serve as a contributing member of the charter school faculty.
- Possess and understanding of the charter school renewal process and assist with the process as needed.
- Help foster and maintain an effective and caring learning climate in the school.
- Assist in the management of the school in accordance with state administrative code, school law, charter school policies and school procedures.
- Support and promote board and administrative initiatives and decisions.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher with classroom management, conducting parent involvement activities and providing assistance with class technology activities.
- May provide student instructional support under the direct supervision of the Classroom Teacher.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher with the preparation of material for class and student use.
- Serve as a role model for students, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility and demonstrating pride in the education profession.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher with instructional practices that ensure that all students meet and exceed the Common Core State Standards and charter school educational goals.
- Help provide a nurturing, supportive and positive classroom climate.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher in budgeting class time effectively.
- Knowledge of the charter school technology plan and the infusion of technology strategies and equipment within classroom instructional lessons and teacher organizational tasks.
- Be an active listener giving full attention to what others are saying, taking the time to understand the points being made and asking questions as appropriate.
- Take immediate action and notify appropriate personnel concerning any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or anabolic steroids.
- Follow school affirmative action procedures.
- Possess and understanding of the school emergency response plan.
- Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school.
- Communicate with the Classroom Teacher about the needs, successes and general operations of the charter school.
- May be asked to attend faculty meetings and staff development in service training programs.
- Help manage various school functions and events as assigned.
- Attend special events and other school sponsored activities and functions.
- Demonstrate a supportive role in the school fundraising projects.
- Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through professional growth.
- Perform any other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification that may be assigned by the Classroom Teacher and supported by the school administrator.
