Job description

Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge? KVUE-TV in Austin, Texas is searching for a Broadcast IT Technician with great people and communication skills, a strong work ethic, good troubleshooting skills, a good understanding of computers, and a passion for learning new things. You will be responsible for installing and maintaining TV broadcast systems and troubleshooting computer issues. If you love tinkering with and troubleshooting a wide array of technology, then this might be the job for you. We will provide training on specific television systems, but you need to have a strong understanding of computers and an innate ability to troubleshoot. This role is a full-time, hourly position, with benefits.
Responsibilities:
• Support day to day operations of KVUE-TV including all daily news operations, equipment, and computer-based IT systems.
• Install, maintain and/or repair cameras, switchers, graphic systems, audio equipment, routers, automation/editing systems, intercoms, computer-based systems.
• Maintain, upgrade, and support broadcast and IT environments throughout the station including the sales department, news department, television production and broadcast studios.
• Consult and communicate with engineering management and other engineers on technical issues as required.
• Perform all technical work to engineering standards and practices.
• Provide PC/Mac hardware/software support, on-site installation, servicing, and repair of computer workstations.
• Provide light facilities maintenance.
• Assist with LAN and WAN related hardware and software maintenance.
• Develop knowledge of facility specific IT needs and assist in supporting these systems.
• Other duties as directed.
Job Requirements:
• TV broadcasting experience is a plus.
• Degree in electronics, IT, Radio/TV/Film, or other technology field preferred but work experience in a technology field is also acceptable.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain television broadcast equipment, computer systems and networking equipment.
• KVUE is a 24/7 broadcast environment, so applicants must be flexible to accommodate shift changes including extended hours, weekends, and evenings if necessary.
• Self-starter, able to work efficiently without direct supervision.
• Must possess strong personal interaction skills, good communication skills, ability to work under pressure and deadlines, and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks.

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
Physical Demands Set: Medium work: Involves standing prolong hours, stooping, bending, lifting/pushing up to 25 lbs.
