Primary Responsibilities
Our growing Philadelphia and Plymouth Meeting, PA offices are conducting a search for a civil/structural engineering intern to join our Transportation Group. This individual will perform bridge design and detailing under the supervision of a senior engineer. Additional duties include selecting standard bridge engineering/design procedures and developing structural details using specialized software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, STAAD and LARSA. This individual will perform structural load calculations, assist with geometric layout/quantity development, and may participate in bridge inspection operations.
In the role of Bridge Engineering Intern, we'll count on you to:
- Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
- Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
- Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering program
- Attention to detail a must
- Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
- Position requirements include knowledge in structural design principles with experience in automated design tools (Microstation, AutoCAD, InRoads, or Civil 3D), and MS Office.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment are a must.
- Level(s) of Experience Sought: Intermediate - Some related work or volunteer experience/second Co-op / Advanced - Previous related work experience/final Co-op
- Preference given to local candidates
