BRIDGE PRACTICE

DESCRIPTION

This Technical Manager position will lead a team of technical staff to complete structural engineering design and studies in support of transportation and site civil infrastructure. Project work will focus specifically on bridge design, bridge inspection, bridge load ratings, and retaining walls for general civil, highway, and road projects for local and state agencies. People, project, and pursuit management are each an important part of the overall Technical Manager duties. As a key part of our Colorado structures team, you will work with Michael Baker's office leadership and staff to manage:

PEOPLE

  • Manage a staff of 3 to 4 structures professionals, including task assignment, training, mentoring, career development and performance reviews.
  • Mentor less-experienced technical staff on the structures team and within the office as appropriate
  • Support the strategic vision, mission and culture of the Denver structures practice and overall office.

PROJECTS
  • Be responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with local office leadership and regional Michael Baker International staff.
  • Be responsible for the quality and successful delivery of the team task assignments.

PURSUITS
  • Participate in ongoing strategic positioning for new project opportunities in the state of Colorado and Montana and support similar efforts in the State of Utah.
  • Manage client relationships and client engagement to best serve the interests of the client and Michael Baker.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, engineering management, or similar degree with 12+ years of bridge-related design experience.
  • A Colorado P.E. or the ability to obtain within 6 months. Having a P.E. or S.E. registration in other states, particularly Montana and Utah, is a plus.
  • 2+ years of project management experience with Colorado DOT and/or municipalities.
  • An understanding of AASHTO LRFD design and complex structural analysis software such as Midas or LARSA.
  • Well established industry (client and colleague) relationships and a willingness to help lead or support proposal efforts.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $160,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
