Ocean Restaurant at the Cape Arundel Inn & Resort in Kennebunkport is welcoming a Breakfast Cook to our Culinary team!
This position is part time, with potential to move to full time. Some weekend availability necessary. We offer a competitive hourly wage based on experience.

Job Summary:

• Ensure proper food preparation according to menu and timing of execution.
• Follow food preparation, presentation and proper service procedures.
• Inspect equipment before and after use, making sure everything is clean and in proper working order.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstation, kitchen area, and walk in cooler/freezer.
• Adhere to proper food storage practices, especially hot and cold meats, seafood and other high protein items. Ensure that all items needed are in stock for service.
• Review prep list, check daily pars and maintain pars as necessary.
• Determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up.
• Practice conscious knowledge of food allergies and safety in preparation.
• Assist in management of food yield and cost control.
• Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, waffle iron and flat top grill.
• Executes emergency procedures in accordance with KRC standards
• Complies with required safety regulations and procedures
• Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area
• Complies with KRC hotel standards, policies and rules
• Complies with KRC uniform and grooming standards
• Attendance in conformance with KRC standards
• Required to attend all training sessions and meetings

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Basic knife skills and a fundamental understanding of culinary technique. Experience in a professional kitchen is preferred.
• Ability to pick up new skills quickly and follows instructions well.
• Cleanliness, efficiency, speed, and organization.
• A trustworthy and reliable person.
• We support work-life balance. This role requires availability to work days midweek and weekends regularly. We will do our best to accommodate schedule restrictions, please share your preferences upon interview.
• Team-oriented with a passion for quality.

Essential Functions:

• Remain on feet for full shift.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Go up and down stairs on occasion
• Bend frequently and repetitively during a shift.
• Ability to squat, stretch, reach, and lift overhead.
• Visually survey work areas.
• Use repetitive manual dexterity.
• Move quickly based on guest needs.
• Communicate and exchange information effectively with the ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
