Job Summary
Position is responsible for assisting the principal by performing responsible clerical and technical work involving the preparation and maintenance of fiscal or related documents for the school.
Essential Duties
- Operates a complete automated bookkeeping system for the school.
- Maintains a financial filing system.
- Reconciles general cash ledger and bank statements.
- Sorts, proofs, and prepares material for posting.
- Checks and balances cash and negotiable instruments against receipted copies of bills.
- Types records, accounting statements, and vouchers.
- Prepares a financial summary report of all accounts.
- Prepares statistical tables; types letters, takes meeting notes, reports, bulletins, charts, questionnaires, requisitions, and other materials from rough draft to final copy.
- Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed, and puts it into a usable format.
- Maintains a regular filing system and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence as instructed.
- Handles incoming telephone calls and refers to other staff members when appropriate.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by courses in business, mathematics, and some experience in general office work.
- General knowledge of clerical/accounting terminology, methods, and procedures.
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
- Must have knowledge of automated computer accounting system.
- Ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures.
- Ability to post accounts with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
- Skill to use a variety of office equipment.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
