Bookkeeper/Account Payable
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Bookkeeper/Accounts Payable is responsible for daily accounting and bookkeeping activities as detailed below. The Bookkeeper/Accounts Payable is responsible to provide timely, accurate financial information and analysis to management, to support achievement of business objectives.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Day to day bookkeeping tasks include:
- Prepare and interpret financial statements.
- Complete month end closing processes including GL account and back reconciliations.
- Preparing month end reports, and work with CPA to enter month end journal entries.
- Receiving customer payments daily, electronically and by traditional means
- Making deposits electronically
- Confirming and entering of vendor invoices
- Entry of credit card expenses
- Review account receivable balances.
- Managing accounts payable including balances and processing vendor payments using ACH, Wire, and Positive Pay methods for payment
- General ledger account balancing.
- Monthly bank reconciliation
- Payroll and payroll tax entries, maintaining quarterly and annual reports.
- Michigan Sales and use tax monthly reporting, Canadian GST reporting, local city tax reporting.
- Friend of the Court and Garnishment tracking and payment.
- Record and process employee expense reports.
- Monthly Workman Compensation Reporting
- Petty Cash
Additional Administration tasks:
- Manage vehicle and equipment inventory, plate renewal, annual inspections, insurance renewals, IFTA, UCR, and MC-150 licensing and reporting.
- Manage IRA accounts, reporting and contributions.
- Quarterly material inventory calculations and reporting.
- Manage company loan schedules.
- Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have five (5) year experience in bookkeeping/accounting.
- Accounting software experience required; Sage Accounting experience (preferred)
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate well with owners, co-workers, external vendors and management.
- Detail orientated, organized, work efficiently, and be able to multi-task.
