Job Description
Leo Schachter Diamonds is looking for an energetic and experienced Bookkeeper/Junior Accountant. The position requires a self-starter who can review and improve the status quo, and is not afraid of taking on and driving change. The role is multi-faceted and includes comprehensive US bookkeeping capabilities, together with the opportunity to develop the accounting capabilities of overseas teams.
Accuracy and excellent organizational skills are important qualifications for this position, as is a solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting concepts. Candidate should have ability to communicate clearly verbally and in written form. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, reliable, and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. Familiarity with accounting software packages is a pre-requisite.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Administer monthly accounting close with team, prepare monthly reconciliations, financial statements and all supporting documents including P&L and Balance sheets.
- Assist with cash account journal entries including loans, taxes, bank fees, 401(k) deductions, etc.
- Bank, Loans, Accounts Payable & Receivable management & reconciliation
- Prepare daily bank deposits, past due AP / AR reporting
- Arrange subcontractor 1099's, and any other IRS year-end requirement
- Classify sales tax records and create and file quarterly payments
- Assist with preparing schedules for the annual year end, bank, and all other audits.
- Alternative special projects, & Ad hoc reporting as requested
Desired Qualifications:
- 3-4 years + experience as a Bookkeeper
- Associate, BA/BS degree in Accounting, & Finance field preferred
- Ability to work well in Multi company organization and dealing with ambiguity
- Able to follow & improve the standard procedures is a requirement
- Conscientious with following up on unresolved problems and pending issues.
- Capability to prioritize and process work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Good Office Skills; Strong knowledge and experience with Excel (Pivots/vlookups), as well as adapting quickly to new accounting & inventory software programs
- Must be able to communicate positively and be a strong team player
- Possess Strong analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills with great attention to detail and follow-up
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles and controls.
- Work independently and as a Team Player
- Work closely with outside Accountant, & Auditors
- Ability to work overtime as required
