Job Summary:

Selective Insurance Company of America is HIRING for a Bonds Trainee in our Corporate Headquarters in Branchville, NJ. In this role, you will learn to underwrite Bonds by the successful completion of our training (includes on-the-job, self-study, and classroom).  A trainee will be expected to learn the business and support more experienced underwriters. The right candidate for this Bonds Trainee position will be hired into our program beginning July 8, 2024.

Responsibilities:

• Develop proficiency in insurance theories and practices.
• Develop expertise in analyzing customer needs.
• Learn how to negotiate price, coverage, and terms for renewals.
• Build relationships with agents.
• Collaborate with underwriters, claims, and marketing in an effort to learn business and processes.
• Demonstrate an aptitude for analyzing and interpreting underwriting information.

Qualifications:

• Recent college graduate preferred
• Risk Management and Insurance or Finance degree preferred
• Demonstrated self-starter.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/peers.
• Must show sound, balanced and timely decision making skills.
• Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing.
• Must be willing to travel at company expense with company overnight accommodations during the training program.
