JOB DESCRIPTION
The Boiler Operator's primary responsibility is to manage the safe and efficient operation of the Boiler Room, while meeting production demands. This work is primarily located, but not limited to the Boiler Room, Fuel House, and Dry Kilns.
JOB AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Must have satisfactory Attendance, Discipline, and Safety Record
- Safely operate the boiler, steam, condensate, and water make up systems to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the entire steam, condensate, and make up water systems. This includes all steam and condensate flows, valves, pumps, and controls. Specific areas to be monitored on a continuous basis including the Boiler (water level and operation), DA Tank Feedwater pumps, chemical feed system and water softeners.
- Making frequent rounds through the Boiler department, checking all equipment, and reporting any problems that are identified.
Ÿ- Operating both a Front end Loader & Forklift
Ÿ- Maintaining the Fuel House and keeping a consistent mix of fuel going to the boiler.
Ÿ - Maintain and repair equipment within capabilities.
Ÿ - Be a self-starter with the ability to work safely without direct supervision and have a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment without compromise.
Ÿ- Take and record necessary readings during the shift and maintain the Logbook.
- Communicate effectively within the team and other departments.
Ÿ- Knowledge of MS Word and Excel and PC’s and operating software
Ÿ- Monitoring the Dry Kilns and their related equipment. Kiln rotation as directed by Dry Kiln Supervisor.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Boiler Operator or in a similar role is desired but not required.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of boiler systems
- Industrial work experience is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.64 - $30.44 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
