POSITION SUMMARY: 

This is a full working position as required and is accountable for the successful completion of the NB-380, Inservice Inspector Training Program, National Board classroom Inservice Commission Course (IS), and successfully complete the Jurisdictional commissioning requirements for their designated territories of the Western United States region. This position is an Integral part of ARISE and upon completion and designation, the candidate will assume a lead role in the servicing of our customers.  Upon completing 6 months of continuous demonstrated proficiency in their duties as a designated inspector, they will transition from Boiler & Machinery Consultant Trainee to Boiler & Machinery Consultant.  

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

  • Participate in a minimum of 300 boiler and/or pressure vessel inspections and/or complete the hours of field training as required by the current NB-380 program.  

  • The B&M Consultant trainee shall participate during internal inspections, operational inspections, pressure tests, and testing of various types of boilers, associated piping and appurtenances including safety controls (pressure relief devices, low water cutoff, level, pressure, temperature).  

Boiler types may include, but not be limited to: Cast Iron, Firetube, Water tube, Electric Fired, Coiled Heaters, Thermal Fluid Heaters, Waste Heat, Heat Recovery Steam Generators 

  • Also, the trainee shall participate during internal inspections, external inspections of various types of pressure vessels including associated piping and appurtenances. Pressure vessel types may include but not be limited to: Deaerators, Compressed Air Expansion Tanks, Liquid Ammonia Storage Tanks, Autoclaves and Jacketed Vessels.  

  • Follow and document training/quality control program or system in a training in a workbook or documented system recognized by the National Board. 

  • Successfully complete the National Board Classroom Inservice Commission Course (IS). 

  • Successfully complete of each of the following National Board Online Training Courses: 

              -  NBIC Part 1 

              -  NBIC Part 2 

               - Rules for Commissioned Inspectors 

  • Verbally demonstrate satisfactory knowledge and understanding of a specific topic to a commissioned inspector. 

  • Demonstrate understanding of inspection methods in the field under the supervision of a commissioned inspector. 

  • Successfully complete assessments to ensure they are retaining the subject matter for each module. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manages all aspects of the assigned duties to meet the requirements of the NB-380 program, governing Codes, Jurisdiction and Company procedures and/or policies. 

  • Participates in providing solutions to problems that do not comply with the requirements of the regulating codes or standards, as requested by the Managing Supervisor, Manager of Codes and Standards or customer. 

  • Presents and documents concise engineering evaluations and reports as required. 

  • Reports to the District Manager, Code Supervisor or the Manager of Engineering, as applicable, in any situation that does not comply with the regulating Code or company procedures. 

  • Complies with all company policy and procedures, as applicable. 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school education [twelve (12) years or equivalent educational system] 

SKILL SET: 

  • Works effectively with other people as necessary for completion of any assigned duties. 

  • Effectively executes the required procedures, Codes or standards to meet the company and customer service needs. 

  • Ability to present concise engineering evaluations and recommendations both orally and written. 

  • Self-starter. 

  • Technical expertise. 

  • Represent ARISE products and services in a professional manner. 

  • Ability to efficiently plan assigned work. 

  • Ability to visualize and meet deadlines. 

  • Team Player

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS 

  • Climb vertical ladders 

  • Crawl into confined spaces 

  • Withstand natural climate temperature variations and industrial work environments 

  • Ability to walk long distances 

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
