The Body Shop Manager is one of the most critical members of our team. They help to grow our business and our presence in the community. This is done by being knowledgeable about our products and services, having the experience to deliver excellent customer service, and being dependable in a manner which supports our team and our customers.
The Body Shop Manager is responsible for the overall efficiency, profitability, and reputation of our auto Body Shop operations and for ensuring that procedures follow OEM guidelines, and that the department maintains at least an I-Car gold level certification. This position oversees the quality, timeliness, and fashion in which auto body repair services are performed and delivered to our valued customers. This position will be responsible for all OSHA and San Joaquin Air Board requirements. The Manager is fully accountable for the daily operation of the auto body department and works to optimize customer value and profitability.
The ideal candidate has post-secondary education or training, at least five years of dealer-level or large facility experience, and management experience. Candidates must have a certification or designation in the field of automotive repair (or must be willing to obtain certification), an unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record, and a strong technical and customer service performance record. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership and management skills, and good computer skills are required.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the management and daily operations of the department
- Successfully lead a team of 30 employees
- Negotiates with insurance companies and ensures all work is paid for before it leaves the shop
- Stays abreast of changing trends for auto body technology and standards
- Ensures all service level targets are met or exceeded
- Manages and mentors staff, including recruiting/hiring/training of all employees, managing issues of discipline/termination, ensuring ongoing training/education, etc.
- Manages OSHA and San Joaquin Air Board requirements for department
- Manages budget and finances
- Manages inventory
- Ensures required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
- Complies with and enforces all safety policies and procedures
- Ensures the Body Shop maintains at least an I-Car gold level certification
- Guarantees customer satisfaction in all areas
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- College or trade education preferred
- Experience in supervising and managing a team of 30
- I-CAR training (Gold Level or better)
- Five years of progressive and relevant experience
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
- Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Highly professional and dependable
- Safety and customer service oriented
- Certification or designation in the field of automotive repair (or is willing to obtain certification)
- Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
- Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite
- Must be SP2 certified or willing to get certified
