Job Title:               Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)


Department:          Applied Behavior Analysis Services (ABA)


Position

Description:           The BCBA is responsible for the delivery of ABA services to patient and families.  Responsibilities will include assessment, plan development, service delivery, case management, supervision, outreach and marketing, caseload development, annual performance reviews, and quality assurance.

Education and

Experience:          

  • Acceptable graduate degree from an accredited university, completion of acceptable graduate coursework in behavior analysis, and a defined period of supervised practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam.
  • Acceptable graduate degree, a full-time faculty position in behavior analysis that includes research and teaching, and supervised practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam.
  • Acceptable doctoral degree that was conferred at least 10 years ago and at least 10 years’ post-doctoral practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam.

General

Requirements:      

  • General knowledge and experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Services and/or knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Managerial experience
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Windows, Excel, database management and record keeping.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

HIPAA Protected information access

Patient information is to be held strictly confidential.  During the time of employment as well as after termination of employment with MECA Therapies, each employee agrees to hold in absolute confidence all information regarding MECA services.

Any patient information obtained while an employee of this therapy practice shall remain confidential except to the extent allowed by MECA Therapies HIPAA Policy and as part of the employee’s job description. 

Employees will discuss any questions or concerns they have with their supervisor or the practice’s Privacy Officer.  Any employee, who is not sure whether certain patient information should be released, will not release the information until discussing the circumstances with their supervisor and/or the Privacy Officer.

In the event it is discovered patient information may have been used or disclosed inappropriately, every employee is expected to notify their supervisor or the Privacy Officer.  Supervisors will report such events to the Privacy Officer so that immediate and proper steps may be taken to mitigate/minimize any adverse effects to the patient.

Employees will not face retribution solely for reporting suspected misuse or inappropriate disclosure of patient information to their supervisor or the Privacy Officer. 

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The BCBA will operate within Local, State and Federal Regulations as well as adhere to all MECA policies and procedures.  Essential duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Conducting behavior or functional Analytic Assessment Process
  2. Developing the case supervision and clinical management
  3. Developing and implementing an ABA Treatment Plan
  4. Consulting with a Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) or Behavior Technicians (BT) regarding client/family concerns
  5. Selecting appropriate stimulus materials and treatment modalities for age and ability of person served
  6. Including the client/family in setting treatment goals and training families on specific treatment strategies and carryover skills for the client/family
  7. Giving clear concise instructions in presenting materials and/or techniques in therapy
  8. Recording and tracking daily progress for client/family accurately
  9. Utilizing time in session efficiently to meet objectives
  10. Providing accurate and immediate feedback to the client and/or family
  11. Planning for discharge of the person served
  12. Completing stage two assessments
  13. Completing other duties as assigned




CASELOAD ASSIGNMENTS

The BCBA will be assigned a caseload of clients/families in need of ABA services:


Providing direct services to client/families on an as needed basis (Stage 3)


Adjustments to caseload can be made based on the necessary levels of supervision required by RBT or BT and client/family



PRODUCTIVITY

The BCBA will achieve the expected productivity set by MECA Therapies

  1. Completing Stage 2 assessments as assigned
  2. Caseload of 10-12 clients or client hours totaling 100-120
  3. Weekly productivity totaling 25-30 billable hours per week
  4. Monthly productivity totaling 100-120 billable hours per month

DOCUMENTATION

The BCBA will accurately collect data on persons served and will ensure that the information is accurate and filed in a timely manner by adhering to the following:

  1. Documenting therapy sessions
    1. A session note will be completed in the Rethink system within 24 hours of the conducted session
    2. Any BCBA needing additional time to complete documentation will request approval from Regional Director
  2. Overseeing the completion of quarterly notes to be completed by the RBT or BT
  3. Completing Stage 2 assessment report in the Rethink system within 24 hours of completing the assessment

STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING

The BCBA will provide the necessary support, training, and guidance in their provision of services to the persons served.  The BCBA must also comply with all mandatory trainings identified by their certification board as well as trainings mandated by MECA Therapies by adhering to the following:

  1. Consulting and providing in-house trainings to other staff members
  2. Training RBT or BT on policies and procedures for the ABA program
  3. Training RBT or BT on specific ABA strategies
  4. Maintaining appropriate certification
  1. Attending mandatory staff meeting and trainings

SUPERVISION

Certified BCBA’s will be required to provide supervision to RBT or BT . Supervision will be provided according to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Guidelines by:

  1. Providing 1 hour of clinical management for every 10 hours of direct service performed by the RBT/BT
  2. Providing 1 hour of direct and/or indirect supervision for every 10 hours of direct service performed by the RBT/BT



QUALITY ASSURANCE

The BCBA will maintain quality services for the persons served by adhering to the following: 

  1. Ensuring persons served have a clear understanding of their rights
  2. Acknowledging and respecting the rights of persons served at all times
  1. Ensuring all assessment, therapy and related activities are ethical and in compliance with MECA policies and procedures and BACB Guidelines
  2. Completing Quality Assurance report quarterly


POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES

MECA staff must adhere to all state and federal guidelines and standards as applicable, as well as MECA policies and procedures.
