The BMX Race Coach position is an integral part of the camper's experience, providing a dynamic platform that is unmatched. You will execute and support all aspects of the program, including overall curriculum and appropriate use of facilities.The goal is to ensure a high level of training and progression, making sure campers are engaged and participating in a responsible manner.

The BMX Race Zone Coach positionwill be responsible for the safety, vibe, and cleanliness of the Action Sports facilities around camp.Zone Coaches will be responsible for one(1)Action Sports facilityper Zone Coach shift.Zone Coaches need to make sure campers areacting responsibly and respectfully to others and using the facility in a safe manner. They will beresponsiblefor upholding energy within the park and for the cleanliness of the facility.

The BMX RaceCounselor position is responsible for the safety, health, andwell-beingof all campers within assigned cabin throughout the day and from the time they return to the cabin for the evening to whencampers are released to instruction the following morning.They will be responsible for assisting campers with any needs or challenges thatariseduringthe week.This role provides you with the ability to connect with the campers outside of the park setting, and enhance the overall experience.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall
  • Work a maximum of 40 hours, including coaching, zone coaching, counseling and recreation activities as assigned
  • Ensure campers are acting responsibly, respectfully and following all camp standards
  • Execute routine daily safety inspections and reporting and cleaning of assigned areas
 
Coaching
  • Responsible for leading a group of 7-10 campersdailythrough 2 (two) instruction sessions for 3.5 hours daily
  • Create and implement a lesson planutilizing the Woodward Intuitive Progression System and Progression Tools toensurecampers are learning new skills and meeting goals
  • Evaluate camper skill levels and discuss progression comparisons while providing feedback for ongoing skill development
Zone Coaching
  • Make sure everyone is using the facility in a safe manner, and following proper skatepark etiquette
  • Engaged, playing music, creating games, developing challenges and assisting campers with skill development
  • Sweeping, clearing facility of all debris and hazards, picking up trash, putting disregarded belongings into the Lost and Found
  • Inspecting all areas each shift for any ramps or obstacles that need repair and alerting your direct supervisor(s)
Counseling
  • Assist campers in daily routine including chores, overall cabin/surrounding area cleanliness, travelling to program activities and meals
  • Create a cohesive and positive cabin experience amongst all campers in the cabin
  • Lead/Assist with Recreation Activities as scheduled
Other duties asassigned.
 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Experience
    • Must have 1+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens.
    • Experience working in acamp environment is preferred.
    • Experience in action sports coaching preferred
    • Must hold a USABMX Coaching Certification/License
  • Health and Safety Certifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

BASIC SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • As a requirement of this position, pre-hire criminal history clearances are collected from the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH) system, child abuse clearances are obtained through the Department of Public Welfare, and federal history is taken through FBI fingerprint screening.
  • Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working in an outdoor and indoor all-season environment.
