Block Plant Operator

FUNCTION: The Block Plant Operator's primary responsibility is to manufacture masonry block products that meet our quality control standards.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

• Operate machines to manufacture masonry block products
• Make minor adjustments and repairs on machinery
• Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, industrial electrical systems and controls
• Monitor the operation of cuber, conveyor, stretch wrap machine, block machine and other nearby equipment to detect and report malfunctions.
• Visually inspect products and by-products for conformity to prescribed quality standards such as color, shape and corners. Remove poor quality products and by-products as required.
• Learn and use correctly the appropriate sorting and stacking patterns for each product as required on cubing machine. Operate computer to change codes for stacking patterns.
• Perform quality control on dry block line.
• Perform other functions and duties as required or directed, such as assisting with maintenance and repair of machinery, cleaning mixer and other production equipment and assisting with training of new employees.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Attention and commitment to safety
• Ability to work long hours
• Must be mechanically inclined
• Able to communicate in English fluently

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. repetitively
• Frequent bending, standing, lifting and ongoing physical activity
• Regular exposure to the outdoor elements

POSITION SPECIFICS:

• Must be willing to work Saturdays as needed
• Shift (2:00 PM - midnight)
