Summary:
This position is responsible for maintaining most of the equipment in the hospital. The ideal candidate will be an expert-level technician in multiple modalities. This role is considered a leader on the team and may have supervisory responsibilities. The BMET III will play a supporting role to the manager or director.

What you will do:
  • Assemble, repair, and maintain patient care equipment according to their specifications
  • Manage the facility’s scheduled maintenance program
  • Document all activities in Renovo’s proprietary system (RenovoLive)
  • Maintain departmental performance standards and goals
  • Support cost containment under the direction of a supervisor or manager
  • Provide mentoring and training to BMETs and apprentices
  • Adhere to KPI targets related to task execution and support the team in achieving KPIs consistently
  • Comply with Renovo and hospital policies
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience as a biomedical technician
  • Knowledge of electromechanical devices and principles, as well as a thorough understanding of general patient care equipment and can demonstrate the usage of supported devices
  • Understanding of life-support and diagnostic support devices and their usage within the healthcare setting
  • Proficient with multiple devices / modalities (ex. Patient Monitoring) and is an expert on the topic
Education/Special Training:
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical Certificate or DOD training required
  • College Degree, Certification, or other higher level of education pertaining to this job description preferred
  • CBET or similar preferred

  • Regulatory – knows the various accrediting agencies (TJC, DNV, CAP, DOH) and how the Medical Equipment Management Plan complies
  • Giving Feedback – Provides constructive feedback towards department goals and activities, helps to foster growth within the team
Safety Requirements:
  • Abide and follow our Injury & Illness Prevention Program and Covid-19 Prevention Program.
  • Maintains a safe working environment for self and others they come in contact within the biomed area in accordance with the facility’s policies.
  • Must follow OSHA guidelines in regard to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments and/or tools, hazardous liquids, and operating devices.
  • Ontime completion of safety trainings assignments (HealthStream)
Physical Requirements:
  • The BMET III must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, squat, and twist.
  • Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperatures, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors.
  • Must be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds routinely.
