Job Summary:Biomedical Engineer

Life University is looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to serve as a Biomedical Engineer. The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for advancement of the mission driven research agenda and enterprise at Life University. The Biomedical Engineer works to promote, facilitate, and advance the chiropractic research and product development program at Life University through the conduct of rigorous mission focused research, collaboration initiatives, and mentorship of faculty and students. The Biomedical Engineer will contribute to the development of a strong reputation and research and product portfolio for the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and produces education training tools to enhance the acquisition of chiropractic student knowledge and skills
  • Collaborate with research team, faculty, students, external collaborators, and/or contractors in the design, implementation, and post assessment of education training tools and research studies
  • Assists with the processing and analysis of clinical neurophysiologic and kinematic study data
  • Problem solve and integrate technical electronic, mechanical, and data systems to meet specific research needs
  • May have their own research projects and/or have full responsibilities for specific areas of instrumentation or methodology development and user support
  • Demonstrates and trains others in the proper use/operation of laboratory techniques and equipment
  • Investigates and recommends potential alternative approaches to improve the quality of results of basic and/or translational research
  • Demonstrates increased responsibility through management of teams and leadership of scientific projects by applying advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development.
  • May assist in grant and other funding applications as necessary and appropriate, or with approval of the Director of the Center for Chiropractic Research
  • With the approval of the Director of the Center for Chiropractic Research, may be principal investigators on funded proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field and two years of related experience.
  • Strong ability to integrate and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control circuitry with computer systems
  • Strong aptitude for self-directed learning and integration of knowledge to support tool development and research processes
  • Familiarity with materials science
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D printing
  • Competent in Python or other programming language
  • Familiarity with MATLAB
  • Strong meeting facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient with presenting, writing, and discussing technical knowledge
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential employee and research participant information.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of research and experimental platforms for analyzing, designing and interpreting results
