Footwear Innovation | Biomechanics Research Lab Technician (freelance)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Please note that this role is freelance/independent contractor based in the Portland office.

The Footwear innovation team is a diverse group of designers, developers, engineers, and scientists, who are future-thinking, detail-orientated and solution-focused. a day in the life; what you will do
  • Partner with the Footwear Innovation Research-for-You team leader and managers to conduct footwear Biomechanics Research and engineering tasks for lululemon. This team focuses on foundational scientific insights, research, and validation to unlock the unmet footwear innovation needs of the lululemon guest.
  • Demonstrate passion for sport Biomechanics Research, innovation, and product evaluation/validation.
  • Support projects that provide foundational scientific insights and research to validate new footwear innovations that unlock unmet needs for the lululemon guest, through the lens of biomechanics.
  • Coordinate and execute recruitment of relevant test subjects for internal and external testing sessions.
  • Conduct biomechanics studies to collect data using state-of-the-art lab and field-based biomechanical equipment and methods.
  • Use working knowledge of data analysis to process test data in support of advanced analytics.
  • Execute, maintain, and communicate improvements upon test protocols.
    qualifications
    MS or BS degree in human sport biomechanics, biomechanical engineering, or related field.
  • 0-3 years' experience conducting Biomechanics Research.
  • Working knowledge of research, protocol creation, and execution of biomechanics tests.
  • Experience with coding languages including, but not limited to: C, C++, Python, R, MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understands product testing and evaluation processes.
  • Familiarity with consumer product testing and industry standard testing protocols for footwear a
    plus.
  • Familiarity of engineering materials and manufacturing processes used in footwear production a
    plus.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including collaborative problem-solving, negotiating, issue resolution,
    and relationship management.
  • Thrives in a time-sensitive, demanding, and dynamic environment, and can self-start, organize, prioritize, multi-task, and balance competing priorities with a keen sense of urgency.
  • Manages self effectively with ambiguity, complexity, and change, with high emotional intelligence.
  • Competency of enterprise Microsoft 365 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Planner,
    etc.).
