Job Summary:
Join a dynamic interdisciplinary team within the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance at Ithaca College, managing a key instructional AND RESEARCH laboratory used by 7 undergraduate and 5 graduate degree programs. Supervise daily operations and all technical duties in support of the instructional and biomechanical research activities in the co-located Movement Analysis, Healthcare Simulation, and Anatomage laboratories. Prepare laboratory facilities for instructional AND RESEARCH uses, and support all research data collection and analysis activities, including writing code to facilitate data analysis. Proactively promote laboratory spaces with faculty and students and provide direct assistance, guidance, and training on the use of laboratory equipment. Actively participate in demonstrations of laboratory facilities during open houses and other events. Coordinate scheduling for use of laboratory equipment and spaces.

Job Duties
- Supervise daily operations of the Movement Analysis, Healthcare Simulation Laboratory, and Anatomage Laboratory to include providing direct assistance to faculty and students in the preparation, testing, operation, and maintenance of electrical/electronic laboratory equipment such as the Motion Capture Systems (Vicon), EMG (Delsys-Trigno), Force plates (Kistler/AMTI), pressure platform (Tekscan Strideway), Isokinetic Dynamometer (Biodex), CAE SIM mannequins, anatomage table, and any new equipment that is added.
- Assist with research data processing and analysis, including using Matlab, writing code to facilitate data analysis, and developing analysis scripts in Visual 3D for instructional use AND RESEARCH needs.
- Outreach, provide training, and offer technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students in the use of the laboratory facilities for instruction or research activities.
- Be an active partner with faculty to prepare the laboratory facilities for research and classroom projects. Set up and operate equipment during instructional sessions; instruct students in the use of equipment and help guide them in the completion of assigned projects; assist faculty in the evaluation of student achievements in the laboratory.
- Consult with faculty on equipment needs; research available products, equipment and apparatus; and facilitate purchase of agreed upon items in consultation with the Dean.
- Maintain the laboratory's budget and coordinate with the dean's office to restock consumables (tape, markers, pre-wrap, etc.).
- Maintain the labs websites and calendars to reserve labs or equipment for use.
- Ensure proper functioning and utilization of research equipment and software used in data collection, data reduction and in the overall preparation of data for analysis.
- Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of laboratory equipment and software.
- Supervise and provide training to student employees.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary faculty committee that provides guidance on use of the labs.
- Provide demonstrations of laboratory equipment during admissions tours, open houses, family weekend, and other related events where the laboratories are open for tours.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Strong background in BIOMECHANICS AND previous research experience
- Strong working knowledge of computers, system software, and ability to write code for data analysis
- Demonstrated knowledge of electromyography, kinematic and kinetic systems and associated software, particularly Matlab and Visual 3D
- Demonstrated administrative experience, which illustrates strong attention to detail, analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work in a team-based atmosphere
- Ability to work in a manner consistent with equity, inclusion, and belonging principles
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in laboratory management, computer science, or an engineering related field
- Experience with Matlab and Visual 3D, or comparable software
- Master's degree
Work Environment:
- Most of the work of the incumbent is carried out within a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment. The incumbent will be required to use a personal computer, laboratory equipment, and associated equipment as well as other office equipment used in the day-to-day operations. The incumbent may need to deliver materials to various locations requiring the ability to walk or drive or make other travel arrangements. HR - can we pull the language regarding the work environment from the previous position - think there should be language in this one about the need to lift things too.

$65,000 - $70,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
