This position is located within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC) with one vacancy located in Pomeroy, WA.
This is a TERM appointment. Appointments to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed (NTE) 13 months and may be extended up to 10 years without further competition.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZT-2 or GS-08 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
- Operating and maintaining high volume (thousands of fish annually / please show in resume) non-terminal adult fish traps.
- Assist with organizing and operating large scale (i.e.30,000 / please show in resume) juvenile salmonid tagging operations using run-of-river fish
- Collecting and processing morphometric data from living, anesthetized salmonids or other fish
- Preparing for and collecting samples of scales and other tissue
- Entering, maintaining, and editing biological data on written work sheets and databases as it relates to adult salmonids and steelhead
OR
EDUCATION: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree including scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics
OR
COMBINATION: A combination of related graduate-level education and specialized experience. NOTE: Only graduate education in excess of one year is qualifying for combination.
