Job description

These positions are located in Capulin Volcano National Monument and Sand Creek Massacre Natl. Historic Site in the Resource Management Division.
Open to the first 75 applicants or until 12/21/2023 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.
Qualifications: All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/21/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
Specialized Experience GS-05: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: assisting in conducting established natural resource management projects; following instructions and standardized procedures for natural resources field work; collecting and organizing field data; performing routine and recurring testing of collected biological samples; following established quality control protocols and safety procedures for resource management projects; assisting higher level specialists or technicians in the preparation of portions of reports, plans, or guidelines related to resource management projects. Duties are supportive of professional specialists in resource management; relevant to research, conservation, and management of natural resources such but not limited to wildlife (land or aquatic) monitoring or control; field studies on plant or forest ecology, inventorying, monitoring, and/or control of invasive plants, or making other field observations on the state of natural resource conditions.
OR
Education:
Successful completion of at least a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major or at least 24 semester hours in biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses were directly related to this position (e.g. in biology, ecology, environmental science, or another closely related field.)
OR
Combination:
A combination of specialized experience and undergraduate education as described above, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. (Note: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours may be used in this calculation).
Specialized Experience GS-06: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: assist in conducting established natural resource management projects; following instructions and standardized procedures for natural resources field work; collecting and organizing field data; performing routine and recurring testing of collected biological samples; following established quality control protocols and safety procedures for resource management projects; assisting higher level specialists or technicians in the preparation of portions of reports, plans, or guidelines related to resource management projects. Duties are supportive of professional specialists in resource management; relevant to research, conservation, and management of natural resources such but not limited to wildlife (land or aquatic) monitoring or control; field studies on plant or forest ecology, inventorying, monitoring, and/or control of invasive plants, or making other field observations on the state of natural resource conditions.
OR
Education:
Successful completion of at least one (1) full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university in biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, mathematics, or a field directly related to the work of the position.
OR
Combination:
A combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement.
Specialized Experience GS-07: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: collecting and organizing field data; ensuring quality control of data collected; performing routine and recurring testing of collected samples; recording data collected and providing preliminary assessment and classification of the information; assisting in the preparation of resource management reports, plans, and guidelines. Additionally, experience must demonstrate ability to execute established natural resource management projects by independently planning and carrying out steps using established techniques to resolve problems. For example, planning field projects, independently choosing from among several possible courses of action at different stages of the project (e.g., selects site locations, sampling techniques, appropriate equipment, logistics, etc.). Duties are supportive of professional specialists in resource management; relevant to research, conservation and management of natural resources such as but not limited to wildlife (land or aquatic) monitoring or control; field studies on plant or forest ecology, inventorying, monitoring, and/or control of invasive plants, or making other field observations on the state of natural resource conditions.
OR
Education:
Successful completion of at least one (1) full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university in biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, mathematics, or a field directly related to the work of the position.
OR
Combination:
A combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
