Billing Assistant

Position

ROWI Teen and Parent Wellness Centers is currently seeking an experienced Medical Billing/Collections Specialist who is detail oriented. Candidate must be an assertive medical insurance claims collector who demonstrates the ability to process claims accurately and in a timely manner: and who understands how to minimize denials. This position is responsible for tracking and organizing insurance billing documentation, appealing insurance decisions and assisting with collections.

This is a full-time position. Pay will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for applying the benefit information to the collections process
• Responsible for applying Single Case Agreements to an account during the collections process. Must be able to identify the difference between an electronic and paper submission in CollaborateMD
• Responsible for tracking and claims management
• Responsible for claim denial management
• Responsible for collection and/or re-submission of claims by communicating this information to supervisor and biller
• Perform Explanation of Benefits (EOB) reconciliation; process denial of claims, provide required documentation, etc
• Process appeals with carriers
• Prepare monthly reports based on the collections process

Qualifications

• 3+ years of medical billing experience, mental health industry experience desirable
• High School diploma or GED required
• Working knowledge of commercial insurance carrier billing requirements
• Ability to read and understand EOB’s
• Working with and understanding carriers that are both in and out of network
• Working knowledge of CPT codes is preferred
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Analytical skills and reasoning ability
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• High degree of customer service
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and ability to utilize web-based platforms
• Knowledge of Collaborate MD and Best Notes helpful but not required
• ROWI Teen and Parent Wellness Centers offer the highest quality outpatient mental health and wellness care for teens and their parents. ROWI has locations in Thousand Oaks, Calabasas, Encino, Valencia, Torrance, and Pasadena.

ROWI is focused specifically on teens (12-18) and their parents. ROWI offers a PartialHospitalization Program and an Intensive Outpatient Program. Our Centers offer best-in-class evidence-based and holistic treatments, services and resources. ROWI feels that success must include both the teen and their parents. To ensure such success, ROWI offers a unique Parent Coaching Program which is in addition to our family therapy. ROWI also has a Social Skills Lab that offers social skills training to teens with ASD.

Pay - $22 - $25 per hour

This job is ideal for someone who can appreciate working for a quickly growing company and can adapt to the changes that arise during a company’s growth. Someone who is a team player but also has the ability to work on their own. The candidate needs to be able to take direction but also be self-motivated. It is important to be able to prioritize the day but also be flexibility to adapt if the priority needs to be adjusted. This position requires being on the phone and the hold times with the insurance carriers can be very long, especially during this pandemic. The ideal person will have the ability to be patient with the hold times and have the ability to ask the same question in different formats to get the information you are trying to obtain. The ability to multitask in this position is very important.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
